Messaging

📘

Note: This feature is only available on mobile applications (iOS, Android, React Native) and web.
On CTV platforms, interactive features are not supported directly, but you can enable a second screen setup so viewers can participate from their phone while watching on TV.

Description

StreamLayer’s messaging platform is like having a third party messaging app directly in the streaming app experience. With StreamLayer messaging, viewers can chat with friends through multiple private 1-1 or group conversations without ever leaving the video experience. Users can chat with their friends about that last epic play, how the score impacted their fantasy team, or discuss an interesting betting opportunity — without ever leaving the video experience. Finally, users have the ability to instantly transform any messaging conversation into a video chat / Watch Party with a simple press of a button.

Users will be able to initiate messages with any other user who has authenticated an app with the StreamLayer SDK. Key features of the messaging system are:

  • Private 1-1 messages
  • Private group messages
  • Post emojis
  • Initiate private messages to participants of a group message
  • Initiate private calls to one or all participants of a group message
  • Invite friends
