Launch Button and Submenu
Note: This feature is only available on mobile applications (iOS, Android, React Native) and web.
On CTV platforms, interactive features are not supported directly, but you can enable a second screen setup so viewers can participate from their phone while watching on TV.
SteamLayer’s features and functionality are housed within an unobtrusive button that lives in the lower right corner of the screen. This is the “launch” button and has been designed to allow for easy use for viewers wanting to engage with StreamLayer’s features. Its placement has also been designed to fade into the background for viewers that simply want to watch the game.
Upon first visit to the app, viewers will see an animated tooltip informing them that there are interactive features that can be accessed by tapping this button. For those who just want to watch the game, they simply do nothing and the screen looks virtually identical to how it looked without StreamLayer. Elegant small footprint - unobtrusive, organic. Tapping the button will bring out StreamLayer’s menu of features and functionality. When a submenu button is selected, this generates an overlay screen containing content that is tied to the primary video being streamed. For example, if the Statistics sub-menu icon is selected while watching an NFL game between the Bears and Cowboys, a stats overlay is generated showing stats for the Bears and Cowboys. But if the primary video was an EPL game between Chelsea and Liverpool, the stats overlay would show stats for Chelsea and Liverpool.
In the landscape (horizontal/full screen) mode, the button is by default on the lower right with the submenu generated vertically. In the portrait mode it’s in the lower right with the menu generated horizontally across the bottom of the screen. However, the client has the ability to locate these buttons wherever they choose within their app by specifying location in the SDK.
Here is a video of the Launch Button and Submenu.
